I love the colors you've used ..that piece would go so well in my decor 
As for not liking the results. I think it's a very interesting basket just as it is but what's good about this one is that, with all the open coiling, it seems to have great possibilities for adding to it. For example, some dreamcatcher weaving with waxed linen would work quite well in some of the open areas. In fact you could create 2 separate dreamcatchers on metal rings and insert them into the tear drop shaped openings to the left and right of the mail basket.
